THE BRAIDED RIVER CAMPAIGN: LOWER WILLAMETTE SPEAKS

Through a group of Willamette River residents, activists, artists and organizers, together we are creating a community-driven conversation about the vision of the future of the river - THE BRAIDED RIVER CAMPAIGN.

CLICK HERE to learn more about our values and our initiatives that center around environmental justice for historically excluded people in the North Portland Harbor area from the Broadway Bridge to Sauvie Island.

In the latest exhibition created by The Braided River Campaign, we are using ART as a vehicle to help bring awareness and education of the history and health of the Willamette River.

In their first exhibition, the Braided River Exhibition weaves a Story of Displacement and Industrialization on the Lower Willamette River intertwining art and historical information to guide the viewer through time. Life-size historical portraits, painted by a diverse group of local artist-activists tell the history of the many multifaceted communities that have lived along the river.

Through painting, installation, photography and text… attention to Native American ancestors who stewarded the land and diverse populations who worked on the river are showcased.

Please join us to learn, share and mentor each other and our future generations.
